Bikes and Baby!

The little girl I nanny must be extra tired from our walk today. She's been sleeping for almost two hours! I guess all that sitting in the stroller is really exhausting. That's fine with me, time to blog!

Yesterday was absolutely STUNNING here in NYC. It reached a high of I think, 78 degrees! I was able to spend some time outside and it was glorious! Also last night I decided to take out my super lucky boyfriend so we jumped on our bikes and rode to Long Island City, in Queens and found a delicious Mexican, no South American, umm Latin (?) restaurant. It was sooo yummy! http://blen02.wix.com/blendnyc

It was great to pull out the road bike again and feel the burn on the last hill back to the apartment. Can't wait to get my biking booty back in shape! After living in Utah and upstate NY it's ironic that I finally found my love for road biking in NYC.

Also great news...I have a new niece! Kate was born on Sunday and I can't WAIT to meet her!

SPRING!

Spring is a great time for new beginnings. I'm going to start blogging again as my new beginning. Also, I am sitting in my apartment watching Hector (my super) take a sledgehammer to the wall in my kitchen because my apartment is slowly, no quite quickly filling up with water from the apartment upstairs. Being the OCD person I am, and can barely sit still having guests I invite into my apartment... I needed a distraction.

Things that have changed in the last 5 months since I blogged last.

WORK
I recently switched jobs because well, I had to. The family I was nannying for decided they no longer needed me because the mom decided to not return to work after having her last kid. I was already thinking about how I could leave this job on good terms so when she told me the news I may have reacted a little too happy for her than she expected. I am now nannying part time in TriBeCa (hallelujah) and can get there in 30 minutes (as opposed to an hour and a half). I watch the cutest little Chinese girl whose family is from Australia. I could listen to them talk all day.

Since nannying 3 days a week won't pay the bills in the big apple I also picked up working retail. The retail job is meh, but it brings in a paycheck and I'm starting to really like the people I work with. It's amazing how much I missed adult interaction during my work week when I nannied for almost a year full time.

Also, I am teaching in Brooklyn Saturday mornings for 3 hours. I teach third grade math and english and couldn't be happier. I love teaching and it is my favorite job I have and pays the most. Plus, today they asked me if I would be willing to teach summer school! Could potentially turn into full time for the summer months. So pumped.

Oh, and yeah, you read that right... I have three jobs.

GRAD SCHOOL
I've made the decision to go back to school and get my MA from NYU in Dance Education. Since looking into grad school this always looked and sounded like the right choice, but I'm not quick with making decisions. I applied and auditioned to a few other schools with similar programs, but deciding on NYU was not all up to me. In the middle of the decision making process I went to Philly to see my brother give my nephew a baby blessing. I asked if he could give me a blessing as well for guidance in the decision. The experience I had with the blessing and the auditions sealed the deal. NYU is where I need to be next year and I couldn't be happier or more excited.

Prettiest studio I've ever danced in at CUNY Hunter (upper east side)

CHURCH
It has been 3 weeks straight that I have attended church at the YSA Union Square ward (it would have been 5 except I went to mom's for Easter and like to watch conference at home in my jammies). I've never "stopped" going to church in my mind I just sorta stopped going 100% in the last few years. The ward I am in now feels so good and I am very excited to keep up the attendance. Plus, there is free parking all day in Manhattan and driving to church on Sunday morning from Queens only takes 20 minutes! I have no excuse.

Here's to keeping up with the recent changes and hopefully more blogging in the future!

P.S.
Incase you missed the latest viral youtube video: Baby Afro Harlem Shake
Also, I bought my KY Derby dress: Derby Dress (except in Navy, NOT mint)
I used part of my tax refund to get tickets to see her
